Scotland’s Castles Brought To You!
The Scottish landscape is dotted with castles at almost every turn, with many of these castles being available for venue booking and luxury accommodation (through Panoptic Events).
You’ve most likely heard of infamous places such as Edinburgh Castle and Balmoral Castle – but Scotland has over 2000 castles, with many available as event venues. Each castle ranges in size and architectural style, and when booking an event you want to make sure your venue is perfect for the occasion. The team at Panoptic have put together our top castle picks in Scotland.
If a castle is the venue you’re looking for, hopefully you’ll be inspired by some of our recommendations. Now let’s take a look!

Carlowrie Castle, Edinburgh
Voted one of the top three venues in Europe under 200 bedrooms and only 10 miles from Scotland’s Capital, Carlowrie Castle uniquely blends heritage charm with contemporary luxury. Built in the Scottish Baronial style between 1852 and 1855, the castle has only ever belonged to two families: the Hutchison family, who built it, and the Marshall family, who acquired it 130 years later. One step from the castle’s front door are 32 acres of fresh air, countryside, gardens, and their own herd of Roe deer to keep a watchful eye as guests walk, jog and ramble across the estate. The castle has room for up to 26 people, and with exclusive hire, guests can take in the beauty of the venue, and later do the same with their luxurious rooms.
Cluny Castle, Aberdeenshire
Situated in the tranquil Aberdeenshire countryside and hidden from view by over two hundred acres of beautiful landscaped parkland, Cluny Castle is a majestic, secluded, and enchanting venue. Some may recognise Cluny Castle as a double for Balmoral Castle in “The Queen”, starring Helen Mirren! Dating back to the 14th century, this magnificent crenellated mansion with beautiful grounds remains a much loved family home, and offers a unique experience where your guests will be wowed by the rich heritage and the stunning setting for which Cluny Castle is well renowned. Alongside being an incredible venue, Cluny Castle can also provide accommodation for up to 26 guests who can enjoy complete exclusivity of the grounds and indulge in luxury.

Dundas Castle, South Queensferry
This 15th Century castle, with 19th Century additions, located in South Queensferry is a stones’ throw away from Edinburgh offering marvellous views of the surrounding countryside. This private estate is set over 400 acres, with 17 luxurious bedrooms that can accommodate up to 37 guests. Each room has been individually designed and includes original features, meaning guests can retreat back in history whilst still experiencing luxury modern amenities. The Castle itself has a large plethora of event spaces, including Wallace’s Lair and the Armoury adding an authentic historical atmosphere to any event.
Fonab Castle, Pitlochry
Nestled in the heart of Highland Perthshire, Fonab Castle Hotel & Spa is a truly unique five star hotel and venue. Lovingly restored, it draws inspiration from its historic past and breath-taking surroundings whilst adding the occasional contemporary twist. Surrounded by the awe-inspiring Ben Vrackie and Loch Faskally, it boasts commanding views of the stunning Scottish Highland scenery. With 42 bedrooms and suites – as well as the uber-luxe Castle Penthouse – each room has been individually designed to match the surroundings allowing guests to fully experience the beauty of the highlands.

Rowallan Castle, Ayrshire
What’s better than one luxurious castle? Two! Just a 30-minute drive from Glasgow and Prestwick airport, Rowallan boasts two castles. Together the ‘Old’ Castle – a luxurious 12th century property with roots dating back even further – and the ‘New’ Castle – a masterpiece of late Victorian Arts & Crafts design by Scottish Architect Robert Lorimer – are available for exclusive use for your perfect event! Accommodation wise, with four double bedrooms in the old castle and eleven suites in the new castle, guests can have their choice of castle rooms, and wander the ancient Ayrshire woodland and have an unforgettable experience.
Sherbrooke Castle, Glasgow
Sherbrooke is situated on the south side of Glasgow in the peaceful surroundings of Pollokshields, only 10 minutes away from Glasgow International Airport. It is the ideal location for business and leisure guests as this magnificent baronial building offers luxury bedrooms found in the castle, garden suites, and the cottage. Standing in its own private gardens close to the city, this hidden gem gives the best of both worlds – a traditional luxurious castle close to all local amenities. With 18 rooms and exclusive hire of the castle, this castle is perfectly situated for a city break with countryside views.
