In 2012 Panoptic created, booked, programmed the Ashton Weekender. The event had over 60 acts playing over 4 venues over 3 days and was well attended on each.
The idea came to Craig as a multi-venue, multi-genre festival in Glasgow’s West End. From Rock to Hip Hip, from Indie to House, and everything else in between, this truly was a celebration of great music. The event was headlined by ‘Friendly Fires’ and the iconic Glasgow club night, ‘Optimo.’
Over a number of months, the event was named, built and then programmed. There was then a lot of press to be done to ensure enough PR was out in order to ensure crowds.
Advancing was done ensuring that every act and venue knew all the times, what was being supplied and
Craig then event managed the entire event from start to finish, ensuring no issues, walking between each venue and making sure everything ran on time.
A month before all production had been done – with all backline ordered plus all stage times arranged.
As we had an interest in the music we made sure there were no clashes of acts of a similar genre – this allowed a movement of crowds between acts.
Key to this event was constant communication with the stakeholders of the event. The bands and the venue managers were kept in the loop as to what was going on at all times.
Skills used included Organisation, Time Management, Programming of Entertainment, Marketing, Event Management, Sponsorship (Jack Daniels).
Three days of live music and DJs. The line-up included: Optimo, Vigo Thieves, Kobi Onyame, Davey Horne, Young Aviators, Selective Service, Hector Bizerk plus a Friendly Fires DJ set.
